I grew up with Tommy and we played in bands in Jr. High and High School. After not seeing him for seven years, I got back into bands with him and we played for around six years, until he hit the road and played professionally. I would really like to find some old recordings of him playing. I do have the two 45s he played on, but those were in his very early years. If someone has any tapes, I would be glad to reimburse you for the trouble and shipping.
Digitized and emailed to me would be great. I know it's a long shot!
We had bands in school and played rock of that era, 1960s. He played bass and guitar. We also had house parties around town and played more country, but a little of everything. His father taught us how to play. He played good lead guitar and was probably the best rhythm player I'd ever heard. He sang Hank Williams, Bill Monroe, Porter Wagoner and other 50s and 60s music. Very talented. Anyway, he sat at the kitchen table with Tommy and I and pretty much drilled it into us how to hear chord changes. If not for him, I wouldn't have 60 years of pickin' under my belt.
So, it would be nice if I could find some recordings of Tommy's playing.
Thanks, thanks a lot.
Any tapes out there of Tommy Minniear playing?
