This 80's ear worm popped into my head the other day and though Open D is likely the tuning I'd probably choose in arranging a tune like this, I wanted to see if I could do the intro on C6th.
Here are three ways to play it using both straight bar only or slants. For the Chorus, these C6th chord inversions are a bit high in register but they sounded the best. Standard guitar alone here might be the best choice. But for the chorus, while Open D has those great 2-note power chords, this is how I did it in C6th.

Not completely relevant to the current discussion, but it’s dead easy on C6 pedal steel with Emmons knee levers!
